Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items:

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Word Limit: The recommended length for articles is 4,000–8,000 words; for review essays, 1,000–2,000 words.

Permissions for Images: Do arrange for the permissions to carry/reproduce any visuals.

Submission: In the covering letter, declare that the article/review has not been published elsewhere or submitted elsewhere for consideration. Attach 2 documents: (1) an abstract of not more than 300 words, up to 5 keywords, author's name, designation, institutional affiliation, and a short bio of up to 100 words; (2) the article/review with all author-identifying details omitted.

Citation Style

All submissions must be written as per the latest edition of MLA style. Use in-text citations with a list of works cited at the end. Endnotes to be used sparingly and only when providing explanatory notes regarding sources.

Formatting of Articles/Reviews

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point type
  • Spacing: Double
  • Margin: 1-inch on all sides
  • Headings & subheadings: Not needed
  • Numbers: Use figures, not spelling
  • Spelling: British English
  • Foreign-language words: For first mention, use in single quotes. Drop the quotes in subsequent uses.
  • Quotations: 1-inch indentation for quotes longer than 4 lines. For quotes shorter than 4 lines, use double quotation marks.
  • Paragraphs: First line indented — ½ inch or 5 spaces
