Abstract

Poem translated to English by Jintu Alias. Originally written in Malayalam by Vijayarajamallika.

Justice served,
for those who murdered
a day before and after mine.
But I remain as a female onlooker with a thousand doubts.

Deserted in the wilderness
of endless differences,
I stumbled in the darkness,
of boundless seas and shores.

Whirled away into a drowsy
stupor, are the flags of my democracy,
that you slyly built
at the murky shades of night.

Behold and care,
My pyre’s still afire.
Net me with peace,
Let me finally sleep at ease.
